Future is on a roll right now, as his latest album, I NEVER LIKED YOU, is set to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 with sales of 175-200,000 in its first week.
The Atlanta rapper also released a deluxe edition of the album, which included 5 additional songs and guest appearances from Lil Baby, Lil Durk, and others. With that in mind, the album could do even better than that number. Soon after, he spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music about releasing a deluxe edition, working closely with ATL Jacob, going on tour, collaborating with Drake, and other topics.
“We just did those records because it was just the timing of it, but it was inevitable, you know what I mean?” I believe I was in Los Angeles when I recorded that song [I am On One], and I played it for him after I finished it. “Once it was finished, I played the record for him,” he said of his collaboration with Drake.
Future has stated that he intends to release more music this year in order to make up for the brief hiatus. “I am going to release more music.” I will release more music, but my team, you know what I mean, they are dropping next, so it is all about them. You understand what I mean? Just showing off the homies coming up behind me or whatever. Simply instilling in them a strong work ethic. But they are already creating their own buzz, so things are going well,” he said.
Future says he would like to go on tour but is not sure when that will be. In the meantime, he will perform at a few shows and festivals. “Yeah, I will be doing some shows.” In July, I will begin doing shows. I will be doing shows from July to September. And then I am going to see if I am going to go on tour or if I am going to just chill until next year and do shows, but I am definitely going to do festivals. “I will do a lot of shows, but right now I want to focus on the stage, making sure I deliver a great performance just like I delivered a great album,” he said.
“I would like the performance to be even better… I definitely want to perform the entire album from start to finish. You should be able to get away with just that look. Simply be consistent with the look rather than attempting to fit every song, do all the songs, old songs. “I just want to be able to do the album and let people enjoy it,” he added.
